Shelly Chao
Director
I’ve worked as a hairdresser & stylist since 1996, qualified hairdresser and registered in HITO, and starting my career here at home in New Zealand. My job has taken me all over the world, allowing me to work in London and Taiwan and develop my unique style from different cultural perspectives. After coming back to New Zealand, I worked in a number of salons in Auckland, before making my dream of owning my own business a reality.
Today, I’m the proud owner of a boutique style salon “HairWork” and continue developing my crossed-over techniques. I have also been involved in some of the New Zealand editorial work such as fashion shows and photo shooting projects, which I love also.
I’m also extremely passionate about giving back to the industry and sharing my knowledge to help young hairdressers make their dreams come true.
Kaede Izumi
Senior Stylist and Designer
I’m an experienced hair stylist from Japan, with over 9 years experience gained in Japan, Canada and New Zealand. I love everything about hair, especially cutting & creating unique styles using color.
I always give 100% and do my best to make our clients happy. I feel very fortunate to be here in this beautiful country and part of Shelly’s team.
Outside of work, I really enjoy drawing and travelling.
Semi Kim

Hello! I’m Semi, and I've been immersed in the world of hair styling and design for a good 6 years now.
I’m a hairdresser from South Korea and moved to New Zealand in 2017. I love living here and working at Hairwork with Shelly and Kaede.
When I’m not at the salon I enjoy hiking, fishing, and watching Korean dramas!
I’m lucky to be a part of such a fantastic team of hairdressers!
